I ordered the parts off of ebay and had a general electrician install them. It was much cheaper.

Did you check with your local fire department? Our fire department does that here.

I had an electrician install mine. Where I am, the pull fire alarm needs to have a dedicated circuit, so unless your handy with electricity an electrician might be your best bet.

It depends on your regs. My floor plan was an open floor plan so no walls separating room. So I only needed the actual pull part and a bell. If I had walls separating rooms, I would have needed the pull parts for each room and either a bell in each room to go with it or a central panel that controlled all of them. It also depends on whether you just need the alarm or you have to have it monitored as well. Here the reg is just that it be manual and it make a sound to alert people to evacuate. It doesn't need to be monitored. If I had a home security system that had an emergency alert button that would make a sound in the home, then I could have used that.

I do know that it doesn't have to be monitored.
