Field Trips: Driving and permission slips
We have gone on a few field trips over the past 3 years, and either parents drove their own kids or employees drove. Last year we went to the Zoo for the first time (1.5 hours away) and took my van and a 15 passenger van that a family friend who's a state cop drove and 2 parents drove their own kids. Unfortunately our state cop friend passed away this past winter. I was wondering if DC parents ever drove other kids that weren't theirs. If so, did you have a special permission slip for them? What about insurance issues? Do you call your insurance every time you go on a field trip? We called ours last year and it was a huge pain in the butt. In the end they said I could only take 3 kids that weren't mine. I ended up taking 4 but one is a close family friend so I wasn't too worried. We have pretty laid back, easy going families, but I'm still scared if something should happen.
