First time for everything (need help with wording)

At the moment my last dcb is here, and I closed 10 minutes ago. At closing time, his dcm texted and said they are running late because they needed to cash their checks.

This is their second week and just yesterday I lowered their rate entirely on my own as a courtesy because they were being charged $50 more a week than any of my other families due to their hours of attendance. Boy am I regretting that now.

Anyways - can anyone help me with wording regarding their late fees for today and conveying that being late like this will not be tolerated?

text them back exactly what they owe when they come tell them that the rate is back to what it was and the late fee is due before coming tomorrow or they cant come.

I have an oops report, I hit it from here. BC I think?

It appears that our clocks may not be in sync or that traffic slowed you down but you were late picking up your child on __________ by ________ minutes. Your contracted pick up time is _________.

My policies state that late pickups are billed at ------------ outside of contracted hours or after 10/ hour day and/or $1/minute after 6pm.

        Your late fee is ______________

This amount is due on: _____________

______Your late fee was waived as a one time courtesy.

Dearest, darlingest, dcf who thinks their time is more valuable than mine,
          NEWSFLASH!! IT'S NOT!

          No, don't say that.... Lol.

Dear dcf, It is explained in my policies and in your contact that late fees will be assessed for pick ups after ____pm. Therefore, your late fee for Thursday is $____. This amount is due immediately.

Also, please be aware that frequent late arrivals may result in termination of our contract for care. Thanks so much for your understanding and cooperation.

She arrived at 5:50pm and offered me $40, but I told her the $20 was fine. (I charge $1/minute after close time) She was very apologetic and explained it was a "do or die financial situation". I was somewhat cold, but not rude, and said see ya later while handing the kid out the door.

So, the payment was made and we talked about it in person and in text. I explained close time is not negotiable and the late fee is not for longer care, but rather a punishment. Should I give them a written warning? This is their first offense.

Here's a radical idea--how about coming before closing, and taking your child with you to the bank?!? Nobody has to "die" that way, or be inconsiderate, either!

Too many of today's parents can't blow their noses and care for their own kids at the same time.

Yea. That's exactly what I was thinking when I got her text explaining why they were late!
