Its really funny, because I have been debating this situation for a while now, and I asked about it a while back and everyone said "no way" to taking the school aged kids for an hour in the morning. But when I'm looking at it from the money standpoint only everyone (most) seem to say yes.

I am so torn on taking this kid back (and adding his sibling next year). Its not "hard" work and it adds up to about $2,000 for the year (about $200/month). Its only 1 hour every morning, doesn't interfere with my ratios or anything but it requires me being ready a half hour early. Its not even really a matter of being up because I try to get up and work out most mornings anyway, it just means being showered and ready 30 min. earlier than any of my other kids come.

Just the thought of them coming in all loud and annoying every morning is what is holding me back but then I think its only 45-60 min. each day, I can handle that.

I thought it was enough but now with rushing to be ready on time and dealing with a loud child coming in when mine are still sleeping, etc. I am second guessing it. Would you do it and for how much extra?
absolutely not!!!!!!! For no amount of money!!!!!!!

I am on an ipad and not doing so well... but I have had bad luck with the just 30 mins early kids.... It always runs longer or they do not show up and i have to enforce payment...not worth that to me!

It may be the school age part that everyone was saying no to.

It's a tough decision to open early at all. I personally would not do it for a school age child.

School agers are tough, and like you said loud and annoying. I wouldn't want to be awake early and start my day that way

If it meant losing the kid if I said no and I needed that kid I would do it. But I'd also look for a replacement.
$25 isn't enough. $50 I would consider. But it also depends on the kid. Is he quiet? Does he come in and watch tv for a half hour, or read books or use the iPad quietly? Or does he get in the way while you're getting your kids up, and make lots of noise?
It might just be that you're not used to it yet. In about two weeks it will be normal routine and you might not even question it anymore.

I would do it for this 7:30 time. If it was something early like 6 am, I would not feel it was worth it. Nothing that makes me lose sleep time .

I've been doing it since September, LOL!!!

He is ok - a little hyper and comes in loud too often but when I get stern he will quiet down and read or play with blocks, etc. I've dealt with it since Sept. because I had the family for years before they were school age and I know they are going thru a lot (divorce, etc.) and I wanted to help them but dad's days are much earlier than I'd like and I start to resent it when he's standing at my door and I really could use 10 more minutes to do my hair!

Next year would be 2 kids so double the money too ($10/day). They aren't bad kids, not destructive or anything, just a little too much energy some mornings. Once my little dc kids start coming in it can get crazy but then its only 15 min. or so till they are on the bus. I don't take them on no school days - only for that hour in the morning till they get on the bus so it would never go beyond that.
