I can understand parents asking if we are open some of the minor holidays, but I feel like there are pretty standard "big " holidays - Memorial Day being one.

I actually just started a family, forgot to tell them I was closed Monday, and she handed me her schedule with "You're open Monday, right?" and I'm like, "duh, I'm open on Monday, what are you playing at?!" (I didn't really say that).

I feel like I can't go back on my word and I'm taking a half day in a couple of weeks, anyway, so. Pooey.

Does the mom have to work? Most people are off. I don't think I would watch kids. You deserve your holiday just like everyone else.

This, exactly- especially if you have a contract. If it's not contracted then I'd be open for them (if they were working)- if it's on the contract or you had already mentioned being closed Memorial Day, I'd contact immediately with the above response- they should know since they are new and should have JUST read the contract

I write it on my marker board, parent board and even send reminders home. There is always one parent out of the group that always ask are you open. Hell no I'm not open don't you people read your parent hand book it's clearly written in there for you.
