    Quiet Time for 5 YO

5 yo dcb had preschool from 12:45 to 3:45 all school year...but now he's here with me all day every day. ::headdesk::

Obviously, he doesn't nap. That's not a problem. My 3 yo son doesn't nap either, and neither does my 6.5yo daughter. All school year, my son watched shows on Netflix for the hours of naptime. He was quiet. He often dozed or fell completely asleep, or would play quietly on his own.

5 yo DCB does not watch shows quietly. He laughs raucously (and it sounds SO forced and fake and is rarely at something that is truly funny), he makes loud comments about everything, and he frequently starts engaging my son in loud, boisterous games. I don't mind any of that during the other times of the day. But i DO mind it during nap! DS has been such a pill the past three days since he isn't getting any true "downtime".

So, help me. I need to enforce quiet on DCB and I'm not sure how. I do not want to take the shows away from DS who is perfectly content to be quiet with them. I don't think that sending DCB to the naproom would work because he'd wake my two nappers. I have two floors to work with, too.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

Bummer that he can't watch quietly.
Can you put the shows on for your son somewhere else somehow? Laptop or ipad or something?
    And/Or
I'd give DCB one chance each day - he can make NO noises or he can read in the reading area by himself.
    And
If he can't do that quietly, he can sit next to me with a toy of MY choosing and that is all. And my choice is a soft fuzzy QUIET stuffed animal.

"If you chose not to be quiet during rest time, I have a spot for you right here" Make a cot for him in the hallway or somewhere else out of sight, with some books and a stuffed animal. One warning...that is all.

"I'm sorry, but you are disturbing the other children during rest time. I want you to go to your own area now. We can try again tomorrow" prepare for arguments..

I agree with the other ladies. Older kids that can't follow the nap time rules and play quietly get a nice cozy resting spot all alone.
