    Jury Duty

Ugh. I got summoned for jury duty in July. I already gave my families heads up but was wondering what others have done during jury duty? My mom subs for me when I have to take my kids to appointments, but I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving her with the whole group for the whole week. Would it be feasible to hire someone for that week (assuming I have to report each day), or should I just close down for the week? I don't take paid vacations.

I sent a letter to the judge explaining I was sole care provider for my self-owned daycare and it would be too costly to place a sub in my program spur of the moment not to mention state guidelines for background check, etc and I could not nor would I want to leave just anyone in my HOME...therefore creating a hardship.....the judge let me off! I am in TN.

I also wrote a letter claiming hardship . They had me report for only 1 day . So I closed for that day .
I was told that if I was excused for the whole week then i could be called again anytime , and if I was called again they would not excuse me for any of the required days . So the 1 day served filled my service and I can not be called again for whatever many years.

You may want to check the laws in your state regarding being excused .

Thank you! I will for sure check into this. I didn't realize I could just ask. Never had to do this before.
