The video will hopefully end up circulating the internet and you and other facilities can use it for training videos.

Her fault. That's ridiculous. Maybe your new policy should be that you sign out and walk out! No lingering.

My handbook clearly states that ALL children must be physically accompanied to and from the child care premises by an adult. Once the adult signs the child out, ALL responsibility falls on the parent/adult.

        I say mom.

I also second the poster who said to call licensing and give them a head's up.

I would also terminate this parent (if they haven't already pulled their child) for blatant disrespect. I would NOT feel comfortable caring for a child when the parent clearly feels that they are in no way responsible for something like this.

The thing is, we have a policy for this in the parent handbook and employee handbook. As you all know the parents barely read it. My Director did call and report it but still thinks we will get a visit. DCB didn't come today and I don't know if he will come back. Maybe she remembered we have cameras and is embarrassed. Nanny, I would love to say this to her just to see the look on her face. Butterfly, the time was based on the time she put on the sign out sheet and the time stamp from the video. If DCB had gotten hurt on our property, I do know we are liable. What I can't wrap my head around is why would she think we should be watching him when he is in her custody, in a hallway with the classroom doors closed away from any teacher. Guess we'll see what tomorrow brings.

            Final update

Mom showed up this morning like nothing happened. She came early thinking she would a avoid my Director. It didn't work because my Director was there early waiting on her. After my Director told her we have the whole incident on video, mom then back tracked and said that she just needed to calm down because she was freaked out by the incident. My Director told her that if something like this happened again, mom would be kicked out and Director will call DSS herself. Mom couldn't even look us on the eye. Thanks ladies for your input.

I'm glad the director accepted her today. That way if she ever does start drama she'll lose credibility for returning.

Sorry you guys have to put up with stress and drama
