Wishing I could shirk my interviewing responsibilities

I guess I don't have to interview, but then I wouldn't be any closer to having new clients. I'm going to have 3 full time openings this summer so I need to get on with interviewing for those spots. I hate interviewing. I'm such an introvert it's sad.

Okay, done whining. Off to clean the house & get the summer school age room set up.

What is it about interviewing you don't like:
Having to clean up the house?
    Face to face?
Waiting around all day for prospective clients to show up?
    Social anxiety?
Letting strangers into your house for a tour?

Maybe you can do a phone interview first or skype/face-time call first (or instead)? And you can have a virtual tour slideshow on your website.

Or maybe you can meet at a public place like Starbucks for the first interview (it may actually be safer that way, not inviting total strangers you never met into your house).

One thing I have is pictures of my past daycare children. I hand them about 15 photos to look through of us doing different things. This seems to break the ice somewhat.

The more you do it, the easier it gets although I have never found it all that pleasant either.

All of the above for me!
That and just the whole tedious process. Trying to find a good fit can be exhausting after going through it 5 or 6 times in one month and still no good fit

It is difficult to interview, because you are putting your business out there for them to like or tell you that they don't like it, by finding a different place. But I always remind myself that I am interviewing THEM, and I try to give the impression that they are being interviewed, too. Because ... they are!

Social anxiety is most of it. I've never been 'normal' when talking to adults. I do a short phone interview to see if a tour/in person interview is even worth it. If there's conflict over things like ages, times, days, out of their price range etc then I just end it there.

Skype/face-time is a good idea, but the only internet I have is my phone and I have to tether it to my laptop if I need internet on there. I have a very limited data plan in order to keep costs down so it's really not a workable option right now (internet is $75 a month here so it's not in the budget right now). Kind of the same thing with a website-tough to do w/such limited internet access.

The nearest fast food/coffee shop/etc is at least 15 miles away, a good 20 minute drive at least. Again, a good idea but not workable at this time. The gas alone would kill my budget.

All great ideas, just not really workable when you live in the sticks (with 400 other people)

Also the fact that summer care is only 9 weeks so by the time we all feel comfortable, it's time to go back to school. My after school openings are very limited during the school year.
