Daycare, you can't worry about that. That's giving her way too much power over you and your business. I know, you have a big heart, I have "known" you for a lot of years now! but you've gotta do what's best for YOU--and if they house is perfect, it's perfect! Go for it!
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

Ok Yes I have a heart, but this is really what it comes down to where my fear is.

THe houses in the neighborhood, the backyard go straight down so everyone has to play out in their front yard.

I don't want to put too much on here realizing that she may join this board one day, but she does not watch her kids. She calls me all the time asking oh do you think I need to fill out an accident/incident report for this injury or this situation. Due to lack of supervision, the kids are naughty.

So what I can see is her kids coming to my yard and hurting mine or me getting associated to her daycare in someway.

As you can see I am a very jaded person and I don't trust too many people.

      Is my fear valid?

Actually, it COULD be a problem, legally speaking.

In my state (COLO) you have to have your daycare's spread out more than 1000 feet from one another. Depending on how exactly close and the law in your state, you may not be able to even get zoned there.

I'd find out more info, and if you can be zoned, it's allowed, etc then I'd open and if she's THAT good a friend, she won't be a jerk about it.

the zoning thing is not an issue...

I have 2 other large daycares right behind me where I live now. I have 1 private academy type school in my backyard practically and then one church preschool across from me.

well then there is one more thing to consider.

so the school that is near by is fantastic, so that is a pro

another con is that I am on the food program and if I move to that area I will drop down in pay rate scale and then get about 1/3 back each month. Raising my rates is not really an option at this time.
