    When You Got Insurance...

Did the agent do an inspection? What did they want to see?

I am not currently required to get insurance but I want to go ahead with it. I am not sure what to expect, though.

I have no pools, fenced in yard, follow all my regulations/guidelines.

I've had insurance for decades, since I began providing child care.
The only thing that anyone inspected was my check ::

eta: I am licensed and the form requests your license number, how many children are cared for, whether you have pets, whether you have ever had a claim.

      Thank you!

All the insurance agents are pretty much like, "what?"

They said they don't "ever" get calls about this. It's not required for FCC in this area (at least not tier 1) and there has only been one family home facility in the past few years. It's been frustrating because I can't get a quote at all.

I think I've seen Tom Copeland post on this forum. He has a list somewhere on his site of insurance companies for child care liability insurance.

I posted a reply but it has to be approved. Maybe because I put a link in it:confused:
Try looking for Tom Copeland's blog. I'm pretty sure he has a list of companies who do child care liability insurance. I don't know about the different tiers of fcc or regs in different states though.

For some odd reason anytime someone includes one of Tom's links the post comes up needing to be moderated....

If it happens again, just shoot me a PM and I'll fix it....

Mine is DCI and it is all by mail. No one came to my house at all. Just mail application and check.

I have had daycare insurance with a couple different companies. The first company did an inspection, the second company did not. It was somewhat similar to a licensing inspection, but less intense. They took pictures of common hazards. (they took photos of my breaker box, swing set/outdoor play area, entrance way - to ensure things were picked up and no trip hazards, my daycare space in general) They asked a few basic questions on how I prepared food and bottles, if I had smoke alarms (and took photos), fire extinguisher, etc. It was a very short visit in my experience - 5 minutes max.

It was not the agent who did the inspection, but rather an outside company that the insurance company hired to do it.

I also have no pools and fenced in yard with no violations on any of my previous licensing inspections.

The first company I had did the inspections every 2 years. They always called to schedule them, so it wasn't surprise visits. Hope that helps.
