    If You Collect Something

i collect Monkeys....one of my newest dcg , 3, has started saying shes afraid of them...only when mom comes in. doesnt even look twice during the day. has never said anything to ME , just mom supposedly. i have shelves full of monkey things all over my living room/daycare....i dont feel i should have to remove or cover anything up. its MY home and she has never had an issue, been here since first of Sept.

i have told mom this but she insists its MY monkeys ::

    what would you do?

its my business but also my home. if it were an issue in the beginning i woud have just terminated due to it not being a good fit cuz i'm NOT rearranging my house to suit ONE kid

I don't collect anything, but I would have done the same thing...told mom she isn't bothered by them during the day and just leave it at that. In my head I would be saying something else though No way would I cover something up. It sounds like she's just making it up if she's only telling mom. If you wanted to indulge them, you could ask what specifically she is afraid of, but make sure to do it in front of mom. Or ask when mom isn't there and then again when mom is there and see if the answer changes.

We used to have two bucks on the wall in the rec room - the daycare kids named them, and we would deck them out with whatever holiday decorations were suitable. They were cute as ghosts! The only comments ever from the parents were of envy from the dads since they were record size racks.

Oh, geez! I am a vegetarian and I would never ask anyone to change their home like that! This job makes me shake my head a lot at what parents say and do. LOL

I collect elephants. I have them up so the kids can't get them. Although they like to play with my plush ones, which I allow every now and then. I would not remove my collection. If someone had a problem with them, I would tell them Oh, well. I guess I'm not a good fit for you/your child.
It seems to me though, that the mom has monkeyphobia. Just a thought.

me too! i have so many of both, sometimes i'll pick up a sock from the floor and just wipe some dust off of something nearby and throw it in the trash! seriously...not like it's ever going to find a mate anyway....
