Thanks DCM! Happy Mother's Day to You Too :(

I woke up to an email that 2 full time kids are dropping out immediately

That's a big chunk of income....however, it is the source of my assistant's pay. So, eventhough I actually didn't like this family, I still have to tell someone she doesn't have a job anymore. She also happens to be on vacation this week, so I will have to tell her after she gets back.

Anyway, I just needed to vent because I felt it was really mean of DCM to tell me this, not only over the weekend, but on mother's day, and not that she knows it.... but I'm having a hard time with some other stuff and woke up thinking. "OK! Today is going to be a good day, I'm going to relax and try to keep my mind off of these things that are bothering me" grrrrr!

So its a source of relief and stress at the same time. I'm actually looking forward to working alone again. Things were just too crazy. But I did tell this poor girl that she would have a job till Sept.

Ok! Today is going to be a good day. You're going to relax and not worry about those things that are bothering you!

I'm so sorry that happened. Not even a two week notice?!

    Happy Mothers Day. :hug::hug:

Do you have a notice period? I'm sorry about your assistant, but it sounds like things will even out for you. ((((HUGS))))

Require a months notice and only receive notice on Friday in writing on paper.

        This stops this cold.

          Yes thank you!
We are leaving the house ASAP and that will help.

I require 2 weeks notice or to forfeit the 2 weeks deposit given upon enrollment.

I require a one months notice per child. In other words...sibling groups that choose to leave rather than age out are required to give me 2 months notice and/or wages.

I only accept notices in writing and on the last day of attendance for the week.

ALL families have complied with my policies. I haven't had anyone stiff me on my cancellation time or pay yet!

I would politely tell DCM that you can't accept her email as termination that you must have a paper in their file with her signature.

They'll be forced to pay you even if they drop out immediately. Even if you go to court you'll still get paid.

I would suggest, though, to create a buffer so that you can continue paying your assistant for a month rather than having to fire every time you lose kids. Either that or just keep your numbers low enough that you don't need an assistant to begin with.

That is incredibly smart. It would take me about 2 months, or more, to fill 2 full-time spots (MOST of the time!). I don't think any sibling set parents would sign on after knowing that they had to give 2 months notice, however, but maybe. The only time that wouldn't work is if you are terming for parents or kid's bad behavior ... which I have almost ALWAYS had happen with sib groups. In fact, I've termed 99% of them.

So sorry she gave notice on Mother's Day! That is incredibly rude.

 I got a mother's day term email too! I knew it was coming since I already gave them MY term notice, but I think they had to "stick it to me" and come back with an even shorter/more immediate term on mother's day. Good riddance, I say!
