NON DAYCARE RELATED Funny story: THE POPCORN INCIDENT

So, my kids are usually well behaved.
We got home from daycare yesterday
These little angels went to the store, my son buys own popcorn for them. Except it was a 3 pack. I have FOUR children, AND one was bringing a kid on sleep over.

So, sweeties pass 2 officers, are polite, lined up, doing everything right, so here I am proud.

We close the car door, and that is when my son reveals the bad news about the popcorn is only 3 pak!

And then the monster inside all 3 kids ENSUED when I told them that they would share 3 bags between them and the older child and her playmate could share one bag.

And thus the popcorn incident begun. They all began fighting about sharing, not sharing, what was fair....I yelled "ENOUGH!" and said "NO POPCORN" in my scary voice.

I got tears, crying, "Give me another chance!" I heard one of the shout. Sniffling. These little monsters thought I'd give in!

NO, I am a MEANIE! I did NOT give in. I did NOT fall for their whails of woe and the popcorn stayed unopened, lonely on the table.

To which the kids surrounded it like they would surround a dead mouse, mourning for it.
And tears. More and more tears.
I sent them away to their rooms---it was Friday, and they were SUPPOSED to play together. But not this day (yesterday!).

More tears....the popcorn untouched. Feet are dragging SLOOOOWLY to their rooms. Doors close, crying is louder and sliding crying voices...

Then silence, to which I became suspicious. Of course, one is laying on the bed "YOU DON'T LOVE US!" He exclaims. The other "I wanted popcorn, I'm sad" and the third says nothing...

    I ignore them.

    2 minutes pass---silence.

One by one: "Can we come out now? We'll behave!" And they do...20 minutes later, daughter comes a SINGLE tear in her eye. "I really am sad" she says.

I say why. Dad asks why. She reveals, she wants popcorn.

So I ask her "B, did you know why I didn't give you the popcorn?" Yes, she says, "Because we argued over sharing" And I said "So what was worse, sharing or getting...." in anticipation of what I was about to say, she interrupts. She says "Nothing, getting nothing was worse"

Next one comes and says they are sad. I ask why. Dad asks why. He reveals he wants popcorn. Same question: "L, did you know why I didn't give you the popcorn?" And exactly the SAME response, and even the anticipatory interruption telling me getting nothing was worse (they are twins)

Last one comes to me and says he is sad, but that he already knows why he didn't get popcorn, but he was willing to share (true) but knows our rule that if there is an argument, no one gets anything...and said they would try to behave today.

Let's see....Dad has them, as I am typing this at work, getting paid, while waiting for someone to ever-so call me about a painstakingly boring situation they will have...

Do you think they will get popcorn today?
