What?!! I will have to parent my child!?!?

DCM drops of DCG 12m this morning.

    "Have you noticed any sassying?"

"Sassying? No, she's 12 months. If DCG doesn't like something she will cry a bit in protest then stop with redirection."

DCM: "Oh. Well since you went to one a day naps for her, she has super attitude at home. Like when I ask her to stop she will scream and sass back. And Oh my God I don't want it to continue as she gets older."

Me: "That's normal development for her age, regardless of one or two naps. She is growing and her personality is always changing."

Keep in mind this is the DCM who complained that when she was at 2 a day naps she would nap all evening at home and she never got to spend time with her DD. Apparently, if she has to parent her daughter it's a HUGE inconvenience. I mean. Seriously. Her "all about me" parenting baffles me, especially since she is a Kindergarten teacher

I have one that used to cart her baby everywhere: to movies, on airplanes , and she would brag about how well behaved her baby was. Well, I just waited because we all know how easy it easy to have a newborn sleeping in a carrier seat, but it's a whole new ball game with a toddler. Of course as the child grew older , dcm was so overwhelmed by dcg that she couldn't even bring her to target by herself. She always had an excuse, too. Children don't stay babies forever, and much of the " sassy" behavior is just the child expressing an opinion and normal development. Some parents have no idea what they are getting into ( with the 2's and 3's coming) and are totally unrealistic about their child staying compliant and easy going forever!

Forgot to mention #2 is due in December and mom is so hoping its twins. Let's just say if I didn't adore their DD I wouldn't bother with them. They are both a headache as they both claim to be SUPER parents but really don't stay involved or educated about their DCG's needs and development
The example list goes on and on. It's just sad.

Sounds like dcm and dcd are going to have an even ruder awakening when baby #2 or 2&3 arrive
