    No Pants!

My son 3 has been refusing to wear pants. I am thankful he is at least wearing underwear since he went through a phase where he would just take his pants and underwear off and not want them back on, it was a struggle to keep him from showing the world his goods.

He just hates pants, he says they are too heavy. I've tried everything I can think of including lightweight shorts. I just can't keep him from ripping his pants off every time I turn around.

I feel like its inappropriate for him to be running around in underwear. I'm hoping he gets past this phase soon.

At the same time I have to pick my battles and as long as he has underwear on I've been letting it slide. I have bigger fish to fry with him!

I do tell him he has to stay in the other room if he has no pants on and he can join us when he puts them on.

    Anyone else go through this?

Yes lawdie!!! My daughter gave me a serious struggle with this. Except she would strip her clothes off right in front of the garbage truck or school bus dropping off neighbor kids when we lived in the city

As long as he's wearing undies and isn't touching down there, I'd let it go. That's just me!

My DD was super difficult with clothes when she was about 2. She is 6 now and it is still a struggle some days, the other days it is changing her outfit multiple times a day ::

He's still young, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I wouldn't let him do it in front of parents thou.

Oh yes, I've dealt with this:: With my guy (he's a little older than yours), we had a talk about who is allowed to see his "goods" and how we don't show everyone. I also would let it go as long as undies are on. I would say it is a phase and will pass. Good luck!

My ds takes his pants off all the time, only at home though. He's 1.5 and loves to keep them off and run to the potty all the time.... I just let him run around like that. He keeps his diaper on so it's not a big deal.

We once had a neighbor boy who was 3. He lived across the street and every time we saw him, he only had a pull-up on. My dd was 10 at the time and was embarrassed to see him like that.. Once he was riding his bike in the driveway naked..

This is my son too. He will be 3 in 2 weeks and now we've got him down to no pants at nap time and after daycare time only

LOL I could have written this myself. All the DCPs joke about it because he just wears a shirt and undies or undies and shorts with no shirt. Rarely is he fully dressed! LOL but as long as he has undies on I'm ok with it.

My issue is neither of my own kids wear underwear they will wear shorts and pants but just about refuse anything else. Pick and choose battles. As long as something is on I don't make a big deal. Granted my home(when not caring for kids) is almost clothing optional I don't have a big issue with my kids going butt naked on weekends and such

                      My rules:
Something must be worn if company (including DCK and parents) are present
Must be dressed if going outside or else where out of the house
DCK must have at least something on covering private parts and fully dressed to go outside

Kids just want to be comfortable. Heck my husband still rips tags off clothing and he is 26::

Thanks for the replies! I agree as long as his privates are covered... I have to choose my battles!
