    nap related questions

1.) Do you keep AM napping infants in a totally separate room?

2.) I have an 17mo in a crib at home that doesn't get the concept of staying on her mat. Her mom has no intentions of moving her. Is she just too young to "get" it? I have been attempting the cot and after so many times of her getting up, sliding off on purpose, messing with the cot in general, I just put her back in a pack and play and she falls asleep relatively quickly. Should I stop trying with teh cot, give her a break, and try again in x amount of months/weeks?

3.) Do you wake kids up when your scheduled nap times is over or let them sleep as long as they like?

My only infant is my own and she sleeps in a diff room during naps bc her napping times are different than the older kids.

I will put a 2yo in a pack n play if they arent getting the hang of a cot. However, I do transition them once I am seeing some changes.

    Babies I don't wake. 2's and up I do!

        1. yes, my AM infant nappers sleep in a bedroom while we are in the daycare room.
        2. Licensing requires us to transition to a cot/mat at 18 months. I usually start around 16/17 months. Every daycare center that I have worked at had them on mats by 12 months. It takes time but they eventually get it. It took about 2 weeks of putting DCB back on his cot/ laying him back down until he finally got it. Although if he doesn't fall alseep within 30ish minutes then he sits up and tries to get off the cot so on those days I end up just sitting next to him until he finally goes to sleep. I do not think she is too young. It just takes time.
        3. I only wake up my older ones (4 and 5). Everyone else sleeps until they wake up on their own.

My own baby sleep on his crib in separate room, other one sleep in another room.I don't wake any kids.I had 1 toddler wasn't napping I tried everthing, separate rooms, sleeping in my arms, everything by the end of the day she's was soo crank, crying and falling sleeping on my couch. When I took care of her she's didn't let any of my infants sleeping longer than 30 minutes always crying.I was getting over tired, taking care of 2 infants and 1 toddler.I termite her,she wasn't fulltime, she's just coming 1 day week sometimes 2 day,I never knew what day's she's will come.
I think she's to young to move to mat,put her pack and play.Or make nice cozy little mat for her...

Here we have to move them at 18m

HECK NO!!! I only wake them if their parents are arriving soon! I really believe that if a child is sleeping they need that sleep!

              1) Generally we're outside when infants are napping. They nap out there; I tell the other kids to play somewhere else.

              2) She can do it. I'd just keep on trying.

              3) I only wake kids if their parent has requested it (as in, nap is from 12-2. If a parent asks me to "wake them early" or "not let them sleep too long" or doesn't want them to nap and I've said no, we nap here, they get woken at 2.) Otherwise, I let them sleep. If it's getting super crazy long, I'll open the blinds as a gentle wake-up.

question 1, yes, morning nappers are separated
2, no way would i cot train a kid before I have too LOL everyone stays in the pnp as long as possible. usually trained by 2.5 ish but if they can fit and they are happy in the pnp (aka not climbing out), i have no problem using that for longer. Don't care what the parents do at home. BUT I am legally unlicensed and work from home so I don't have to follow any specific regulations. why train a child to sleep on a cot when they aren't getting it? it really is not big deal if she/he stays in the pnp for 6 more months. unless the sleep arrangement is disruptive here, then I dont fix what ain't broke!

3, i dont wake kids from afternoon nap unless they need to get ready for pickup.
