    Little free library

    Does anyone do one?

My DC friend in Madison does. We're pretty rural, but it might still be fun.

I don't, but they are all over my city. I donate to them randomly

We have a mobile library that visits us at daycare each week during the summer months.

      The kids LOVE it!

It inspires reading through out the summer!

I've never even heard of them!
The Office of Young Children, our state's CCR&R, has a lending library that licensed providers have access to. They have books bags, totes with activities for different themes in them, it's really neat. They also will send out a list of materials that they have and will bring them to you! It's great. That's the only little library that I know of around here.

I've seen articles about these before. We have one in our town although I have never used it. Cute idea though!

The Little Free Libraries are little boxes set on posts. People decorate them in all kinds of cute ways and they generally look like a little dog house on a post. But cuter ::
You put books in. People (children) take books out, read them and, hopefully, return them
Around here, a lot of books don't come back, but there seem to be lots of people who just like to keep the Little Libraries stocked. I donate any good book that we haven't used for a while, or that I have duplicates of, or find a good buy on. Just to spread the love of reading lovethis

I'd like to do one but I think the homeowners association would not allow it

I want to do one but worried kids will just steal the books that are in there-. I have tons of books I would love to put in but.......I don't want to find them just laying on the ground or ripped up, etc.

Maybe, just maybe I'll go out on a limb and try one.

                    Yeah here too.

There's one in the next town over and one in another town over but not like the ones on the website. Maybe they're not "Little Free Libraries" but they are bookshelves in someone's front yard with books to read. Both I have seen are several tall bookshelves packed with books. People general leave a book and take a book or take a book and leave a dollar.

I would love to do this but because of my HOA I wouldn't be able to do one. I'd have one with children's books. It would be great PR!!

Ahhh, makes sense now! I couldn't quite get what it was saying to do in the link. I was imagining constructing a building and wondered how one could stock a whole building...

It sounds like a cute/great idea! I haven't seen anything like that around here.
