    I'm Allowed a Sick Day....Right?

    I just want to commiserate...

I have had a fever and sore throat since Friday. I ****ed it up all weekend (dh worked so it was just me and ds). I thought I would be better by today. I am not running a high fever anymore but still a low fever and worsening sore throat. Ds is also acting sick now and dh is even worse than me.

So I decided to close for tomorrow. Literally the second I send out messages saying I'll be closed due to illness, I get an angry email from a dcd saying that I should be open since I have an assistant (his words were "isn't that what you have an assistant for? "). He's already mad because I won't let him make last minute schedule changes (I always required them a week in advance but especially now that I need to schedule weekly OB appts and my assistant/sub) so I think he thinks that I owe him since I won't let him change his schedule at will.

Either way...wth...I can't rest with his whiny children stomping around my house and besides...the less exposure the better. And I'm pregnant so he can just **** it up....

P.S....this is my first sick day of the year. I get 5 paid...

    End rant...

If I have a sore throat with fever, I close to avoid possibly exposing the dcks to strep until I go to the doctor and get tested.
      Maybe tell him that

I literally just responded with "Yep. But I'm still closing." Just spent hours at the dr office getting poked and prodded to make sure everything is ok. Might be strep. Might be the flu. Might be something else. I was told to rest in the meantime.

Parents just don't understand. I used one of my PTO days last friday to have my wisdom teeth taken out (I get 3 and then I have a 1 week vac so total 7 days) and all my parents made a big stink about it. I just don't understand how parents think we don't deserve these things. I mean after all we are pretty much raising there children, you would think they would be kissing our A**. to you and feel better!

I must just be lucky. I've pretty much always had parents be good about this. But then, I think I've only taken off a handful of days for the last 20 years and I don't charge them. I had to take off a day a few weeks ago for 2 doctor's appointments (just made them on the same day) and I don't charge but the parents paid me anyway.

gah. that is totally not cool! I am so afraid to take days off thanks to jerk parents like that. However, I am closing this Friday and shocker, none of the parents had an issue with it. This is the first day off for the whole school year so it's not like I am closing all the time. I understand your pain! Hope you feel better!
