    Toddlers with Estropia/Cross Eye??

I am seeking some advice/comfort from you ladies. I was told today that my beautiful little 2.5yo needs to wear glasses. She has perfect 20/20 vision, but we took her in because one of her eyes would cross occasionally. We are told that it is either estropia (cross eye) which they are treating with glasses, or weak eye muscles which can be corrected with surgery later if need be. So basically if the glasses don't correct it it's the other.

For some reason I am having a really tough, emotional time accepting that my beautiful, vibrant little girl will need glasses at such a young age.

Can anyone relate or has experience with this?? I deal with things so well until it comes to my own little ones:-(

I know four children that have the same or a similar condition. It will all be okay, I promise. And your little girl will be beautiful and vibrant no matter what!!

I just enrolled a little 2 year old girl with glasses. She has the same condition. She is the cutest girl I've ever seen. And glasses nowadays are really cool! I've had to wear them since I was 13. I love wearing different colors and styles. I get tons of compliments on my glasses

I had a little girl in my care with a similar condition. I'm pretty sure in her case she was far sighted and her eye would cross inward to try to focus. With the glasses her eyes would straighten right out. Her little glasses were so cute! And she was so good about wearing them! In fact after nap the first thing she did was look for her glasses so she could see better!

I'm sure it isn't easy to accept the fact that your daughter needs glasses, but she'll still be beautiful!

I think glasses are so cute!!
I had twin DCBs who had the weak eye thing and had to wear eye patches...a little girl in glasses is much better than a little girl with an eye patch..

This is exactly what the doc said about my girl to a tee.

Thanks so much for the responses, I feel better already:-) It's honestly not that I worry about her appearance, I just feel bad for her that she would need glasses at such a young age. I dont want people to look at her and feel sorry for her:-(

I was the later weak eye muscles. I had surgery at 5. I am thankful my mother went that direction with me.

I have a little one in the daycare who wears glasses and also wears an eye patch for the morning. She has worn them since she was 22 month and is now three and there has been a very noticeable improvement. Wearing them has never been an issue at all.

I am actually hoping its weak muscles, a non invasive surgery can correct that:-/

One of my little dcgs has worn glasses since 17 months old.
Her mom was so worried and didn't want her baby to look "different" and thought she wouldn't look as cute.
Turns out she looks even cuter. Her vision is so much better than when she looks at you now, she sees you better and the way her face lights up is amazing. And she quickly learned to keep "glasses on". If she took them off, we'd say "glasses on" and put them in place. When she got to the point where they were off again quickly, we removed them for a while and put them back on later.
One thing we did to help her adjust was to put toy sunglasses on the shelf, with the lenses popped out. All of the kids wore glasses for quite a while ::::
