    Not on pick up list

Dcm drops off her dd and cousin dcb . She says dcd will be picking both up .
I told her that dcd was not an authorized pick up person for dcb and legally I can not release dcb to anyone not authorized. She said well there is no one else to pick them both up .

I told dcm that I needed a dated note from dcb's mom to authorize dcd picking him up today . But dcb's mom is already at work , I do not have a fax so I told her she can either e-mail me a note or text me .

Dcb's mom just texts me and asks if dcd can pick him up , I repeat again that I must have a note or text giving permission for dcd to pick him up .

We will see what happens this afternoon or if I do get a note/ text giving permission.

    Buellar...Buellar...

You already stated what had to happen. Seems like a boundary pusher.

I am confused maybe there is a typo or I am not reading it right.

The same DCM that dropped off texted you?

You'd think they'd appreciate you making sure their child gets home safely.

If nephews mom texted you to give permission doesn't that work? I would use that as your ok. Its no different then using the text in court. KWIM? Or can she email something?

Wouldn't this be the texted permission you wanted?

She texted to ask if I got paid (NO) and if dcd could pick up. I then told her I needed a note / text giving permission for dcd to pick up .

I have since gotten a text giving me permission to let dcb go with his cousins dad .

Are you saying that instead of texting saying she's giving him permission to pick up she's actually texting and asking you if it's alright for him to pick up?

If yes, then I'd just tell her you need her text to specifically say
"I give so n so permission to pick up dcb on April 29, 2014 (or from now on or whichever). -dcm"

Actually, there's no way I'd accept anything but a signed in person form for a situation like this. Then again, I've been burned by some crazies so I've started just expecting the worst.

We must have been typing at the same time

                    Glad it worked out!

I guess what bothers me is that she was upset that I could not let dcb go with an unauthorized person and . It is not [I]my[I] fault they did not plan ahead and have either a note or add the person to the list of people who can pick up .

You are right. The responsibility is theirs!
