    Nap Mat Storage Systems

If your state requires that nap mats be separated/not touching during storage, how do you handle this?

I have seen huge cupboards with dividers, and big carts with plastic sheets with grommets that slide up and down on the poles, and big hooks attached to the wall with plastic sheets between the mats (& then you have to have mats with hanging holes).

I can't say that either one seems particularly sanitary to me, unless you are going to disinfect each plastic sheet and each divider (reaching all the way back?) every day.

And I don't want to take up a ton of space for 4-8 mats.

Any better ideas? What do you use?

This one isnt huge. I plan on buying this once i switch over to mats. I plan on putting a folded mat on top as well. And if I have 6, then i guess i put one between the storage shelves and the wall.
Shop classroom shelving for quality storage solutions for your learning environment or early education program. Always low prices, always 110% guaranteed!

We are allowed to use the 2-inch foldable kindergarten mats. We can stack them together. Each child has a baby bed fitted sheet which fits good on the mat and a blanket which is placed in each child's nap cubby hole. As long as we cover the mat and keep each coverlet/ blanket separate, it meets QRIS/licensing. Some providers place the coverlet/blanket of each child in separate plastic bags if they don't have separate cubby holes which is also considered acceptable.

Ahh. Looks like people use folding mats. Mine are 2" thick non-folding ones. Eac has a sheet like a pillowcase covering it completely, and a sleeping bag that goes about 3/4s of the way up.

I am stuck with these. They were pricey, but great quality, and I don't want to spend to replace them.

I use the folding 2 inch mats. I hung a wire hanging shelf in the nap room and folded and upright, I can get 5 on there. I always keep the blue side as the side for the floor and the side that gets folded in. It works for both licensing and Youngstar here as long as I take the sheets off everyday.

I use hanging garment bags. They fit folded up. I like the shorter garment bags. I don't even have to zip.

I save those big plastic zipper bags that king size quilts and comforters come in and use those for kids' nap mats and sleeping bags.

I use Ziploc XL bags. I put each child's name on them, and it holds their extra clothing, blankie, and nap mat. I leave the covers on all week and then wash them all every weekend. My surveyors have always loved this: 0 germ transfers!

I think my best bet might be garment bags. Wish I had a free source, like an employee at a nice department store
Any suggestions? I looked online, but they are either fairly pricey, or get poor reviews for durability.
My mats are not foldable, and I don't even know if they would fit in a bag, now that I think about it. They are 24" x 2" x 48", and might be too wide+thick for a garment bag

I got long ones ar walmart. I can put one of my folded ones in unfolded and it worked. It's just easier for me to fold them. Measure anyway.....just in case.
