Only Child Who Also Doesn't Take Naps

So, the one child I do have is amazing and easy to deal with overall. However, she's a 3 year-old who is an only child, and she's not very productive when she's at home (watches alot of TV, uses electronics, etc), so she gets really bored with any activity you throw at her.

We probably do too much throughout the day because of how bored she gets with things really fast. She also doesn't take naps and wants me to basically look at everything she's doing the whole time. She also doesn't mesh well with other kids and isn't very good at playing alone during free-play.

I just don't really know what to do with her without doing too much in order to make sure she's constantly entertained, and it's a bit trying since I have her for atleast 5 hours when she's here.

Any ideas on teaching her how to be more independent? She really is a lovely child with amazing parents. She's just very much an only child and it shows all throughout the day.

    Thank you.

    "Go play" rinse and repeat.

As long as you are actively personally entertaining her all day she isn't going to learn to be independent.

      Thanks!

That's what I've been doing, but I didn't want to be doing something wrong. Children have a way of making you feel that way, but this gave me the push to be persistent.

yep! I must say this a million times a day. I would also give her one activity (like coloring) and tell her this is what we are playing with / doing now and that 's it.

The advice in here worked, because she is now sleep.

Her mom is going to be shocked.

I have one like this who naps.

A couple of times he’s been the only one is care and I’ve been:

                Go playhappyface

                Go playhappyface

That’s nice go play happy face

                Interesting go playhappyface

                Wow go playhappyface

I hear angels’ sing when it’s nap time on those days.

You could always give them a go play and add one of these looks....
