    Thank you!

To Michael, mods and everyone else that made this forum and keeps it afloat!

After reading some comments about providers on a FB group, I'm so glad I can come here! I recommended another provider to this site, she was being "attacked" on the group and thought she could use some friends!

That makes me sad! We can all have different ways and opinions. My differing opinion or way of conducting business doesn’t mean a lack of respect. Some of my favorites on this site often do things differently than I do. When I read a post that disagrees with my point of view, I do not feel attacked in the least bit.

The team here is great plus entertaining.

I have learned MORE from providers who run their businesses differently than I do than I have learned in any college course or training.

Reading about other perspectives helps me evaluate my choices.

I have a ton of respect for providers and feel the more support and assistance we (as a group) can offer/post the more we are helping shape our chosen field.

Alone we make a difference....together we can do ANYTHING!

I have seen some nasty comments on fb too. I am so grateful to be part of this group! Everyone on here is professional, kind and helpful. I love that we can disagree and still get along!!

I felt so isolated before I found this group. It has really made me feel connected and in the loop. Question, does anyone know how many members actively participate in the forum?

Geez, if we all ran our child cares the same, we'd never try anything different and new, PLUS I could see many of us getting taken advantage of big-time! (Me for 1) I'm less afraid to speak up than before I came here. I still have areas to work on but I'm much better and braver than I was.
Hope your 'friend' comes here, we're nice peeps.

I don't think I have seen it ever get ugly here. Disagreeing is good, I wouldn't want everyone to run the same way. The FB group, they were attacking her character, she needs to quit her job or have kids taken away and much more. It was shocking how many moms were being so mean! They are currently sending her private messages bashing her even after she left the group.

I didn't see anything wrong with her post, maybe could have been worded differently. One of her parents ended up on the news, he had active warrants out for his arrest. She was upset that the parents didn't disclose his criminal history. That's why I do my own background checks

It's gotten VERY ugly before...just not so much lately.

If you are ever bored, I recommend reading the forum archives.

There is some fantastic info there and some of the threads that got locked are actually pretty drama filled and ugly.

                    NOT all but some.

I went to an awards banquet once where the keynote speaker told the providers if they didn't like their job every single minute, they should quit.

I think FB is good for keeping up with family/friends that live apart but I got off there because it seemed to always be a place for airing dirty laundry, railing against someone, or is a prime target for a stalker because many people write their every move on there. I have heard way too many horror stories come from FB where persons lose their jobs, their spouses, etc. ... Sure, it comes back to the individual controlling their own self, but I found out too many things I do not need to know....I have enough to worry about without the extra drama. BUT, I DO NOT FEEL THAT WAY ON THIS FORUM. i FEEL FAMILY CHILD IS UNIQUE IN THAT THERE IS A COMMON BOND. happyface

I have heard speakers say things like that at Daycare workshops, conferences but I think it gets taken out of context sometimes. Speakers are generally trained to motivate providers to strive for excellence....family child care providers, including myself, are very passionate about our jobs...sure, we do it for the money, but I also CHOSE this job and spend countless hours in this profession so I want to be the best!!!! I take everything to heart which can backfire on me sometimes! The statement you mentioned is one of those "strike a nerve" comments. But, at the end of the day, we are all human and we simply do the best we can realizing tomorrow is a new day!

Just click into any section of the forum. Probably the Daycare Center and Family area the most and look for the threads that are locked or the ones with the most replies.

Be careful though...you need to have a lot of free time your hands because it will **** you in...
