    Chicken pox

Just had a dcd come in and tell me he is almost positive his older son ( does not come here) has chicken pox and will be at the drs today to check it out .

Hopefully it is not . Now I have to worry than the younger dcb ( full time) will get it too .

Chicken pox is actually contagious weeks BEFORE the symptoms/spots appear so if some one does have chicken pox, everyone has already been exposed.

Here is a great fact sheet about chicken pox

Hopefully most have had the varicella vax and either don't get it or will have a mild case.

All the kids in care have had the vaccine . But still I know there is a risk of them getting it anyway .

Yes, the dcb is here as he has no symptoms of a rash / fever . And all the kids have already been exposed if dcb does indeed have it .

Signs of rash/blisters or fever and any child will be excluded until symptoms are gone / blisters have scabbed over .

If the child has been vaccinated, it's more likely Hand Foot & Mouth which looks very similar to chicken pox.

This kid is in middle school , I know that he should have had the vaccine to enter k but you never know . Hopefully whatever it is the younger brother ( dcb ) will not have caught it .
