I have a daycare kid that is 9 months old. She's been at my daycare for 1 month. She will not nap?!? She will fall alseep in the highchair she's so tired. When I lay her down in the pack n play she will sleep for about 10 minutes and then scream. When she started at my daycare the mom gave me her schedule according to the previous daycare provider. It stated she sleeps 1.5 hrs in the morning then another 1 - 1.5 hrs in the afternoon. She sleeps about a total of 20-30 minutes a day for me! Any suggestions?? She's in a quiet room by herself. I've tried having lullabies on. Ive tried having the window open for light, I've tried having it completely dark, I've tried laying her down a little earlier, a little later, etc. Any ideas are very appreciated! Thanks!

My advice (that someone here gave me and it worked great when I had a similar problem):
When she screams at 10 minutes, check on her (safety and diaper), lay her back down saying "naptime," shut the door and walk away. Check again in 10-15 minutes and lay her down saying "naptime." Do this for the duration of her nap time(s).- Flag

Whatever you do don't get her up until nap is over.- Flag

I agree. Darken the room, use white noise and then tuck her in and leave for the duration of the nap. You can try and place the PNP so you can peek in on her without her seeing but otherwise, trying to intervene is not helping so why keep doing it? Yes she is going to cry and that is normal. but you know she is okay and she will get it after some consistency. If you dont see progress in two weeks, I would replace her. A sleep deprived baby is going to be so stressful.- Flag

It may have been me who gave that advice. Either way, I agree with it.- Flag

I am feeling your pain.
I think every daycare baby I have had have had napping issues from 6-12 mos of age. I have a boy that is doing the same thing only he refuses to even hold his own bottle and wants held to not only fall asleep but also sleep. I can hold him until he is good and asleep and as soon as I put him down he is up and crying. He has cried the entire 2 hours of nap before. I have done the put him in another room, play music, his parents are having a hard time with him at home as well only sleeping maybe 2 hours at a time. I've had this one since he was a newborn and he's 8 months old. I'm hoping it will get better soon for all of us. The crying does get very stressful!!!
Good Luck!!- Flag
