    Would You Send Home?

Dcg 3 is in pull ups this week after two pee accidents on Tuesday. She told me she pooped her pants(never poops here) so I check and sure enough some realllllly runny poo in her pull up. I change her and keep her on the toilet for a few. No more poop but every 5 minutes she tells me she needs to poop and runs to the bathroom but she isn't pooping anymore.

Mom told me she pooped her pull up this morning but didn't say anything about it being diarrhea.

She is acting pretty normal. Just asked for a nap but that's pretty typical for her. No fever.

My policy says two diarrhea gets you sent Home. I text mom and told her about the first and that if she had another she'd be sent home but she didn't reply.

If she doesn't appear ill in any other way, I'd probably keep her. Lots of things can cause runny poops without her being sick, unless of course, others have been having the same thing happen recently, then it could be a virus.

I send home if there are 2 diarrhea incidents even if the kid is otherwise fine. Diarrhea is not something I can deal with when I'm caring for a group of kids. Especially not diarrhea in pull-ups, what a mess. Plus you never know if it's the start of something and the child is contagious.

Thanks everyone. She stopped asking to go poop so I think ill keep her. She goes home after nap anyway. My big concern was that she has been completely potty trained for months but this week cannot seem to keep anything in her.

Sent her home. Poor thing started screaming that her butt hurt and asking to poo every two or three minutes. Fell asleep waiting for her parent and the first thing out of her mouth when I got her up was "please I have to poop"

I am really hoping its nothing contagious. We all got norovirus a few months ago and I would hate a repeat of that

When I wonder "should I send them home?"

I first ask myself "is this out of the ordinary for this child?"

You answered that yourself in your first post. (bolded part)

Yep I knew I should have but im a softy usually and try to be overly accommodating, especially on slow days like today. But I stuck to my guns and am making her stay home tomorrow
