They probably need to change the dosage. In my experience it can take awhile to get the right dosage.

Yes, sometimes it takes a long time to figure out the dosing and times.

My DS took an ADD med for a short time in middle school and he really had to work hard with the Dr to figure out doses and times. He ended up taking the same amount but split into intervals during the day.

Perhaps your DCB needs to take a bit BEFORE the afternoon as his current dosage may not be lasting long enough.

      Mention to mom for sure.

When I was teaching I had a little guy who had a dose in the morning at home, then another does at lunch...the lunch dose was wearing off by the end of the day...so by the time he got home he was wired and starving. His dosage changed when ever he had a growth spurt. Something to keep in mind for the future.

My DS takes another med but he did have to have it adjusted after a few months. From Sept to Dec he grew 2" and gained 5lbs (even on the meds) so they had to adjust his dose accordingly. It was quite obvious something was happening as well, talk to DCM and have him rechecked!

Any growth spurts and meds have to be adjusted. My granddaughter is on meds, she is 8, started meds 1 yr ago,and we have had several adjustments (she wore a size 6 and now is in a size 12, gained 14 lbs and grew 9 inches). She goes to he "talking Dr." every 2 months for weight and height checks and meds adjusted. She also has a very fast metabolism, so takes meds at 8, 12, 4, 8.
