So, I have it in my contract that payment is due Mondays. I did have one family, a single dad who I arranged to have pay me every other Friday, after services were provided, they had been a former family who decided to stay home after baby number 2, Mom has some mental health issues and left them and I was trying to be helpful. We wrote it up in the agreement and both signed it and it worked fine for a long time, however the last several months I have had to ask for every single check and I'm done! Payment was due last Friday and still nothing. I need to have him start prepaying me like everyone else, I'm just not sure how to go about it or how to word it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

DCD, I need to make some changes to my contracts, here's a copy of your new one. I can no longer manage payments being made on different days, as it is turning into an accounting nightmare, so starting May 1st, all payments must be made on the Friday BEFORE care is given. I've worked out a schedule for you to pay a little extra every week to get "caught up", so that it isn't a burden on you (whatever works for you-I give parents up to 8 weeks to get 2 weeks' worth of prepayment into their bank). Please return the signed payment agreement and/or contract by Friday with your first installment. Thanks for understanding.
Don't present any other options, and DON'T apologize (it opens the door for negotiations, implying that you KNOW you are doing something "wrong"). Just say it with the expectation that it WILL happen.Comment
