    It Finally Happened

It's called Nebraska Step Up to Quality. It launches July 1st this year. Unless a provider receives $500,000/1st year and $250,000/2nd &3rd year in subsidy it is "voluntary." Those are amounts no home daycare could ever pull in, but I fear it will not be voluntary for very long. And I worry what it would look like to choose not to participate. I am in mourning already!

They have it in my state, after about 5 years it is still voluntary. I know there are only about 8 daycare in a 2 hour radius that have participated. I'm sure they are trying to figure out how to make it mandatory everywhere.

Washington State's version is called Early Achievers.

Yeah, it was voluntary. Then they stopped scholarships unless your an Early Achiever. Then they tried to pass a bill that would require Early Achiever if you took state paid kids. Yeah, that's not voluntary. Fortunately the bill didn't pass so it's not a law this year. But it will be. Nothing's voluntary for long.

They have something similar in MD . It is voluntary unless you have any state assistance kids , then you must participate or you do not get paid from the state.
