What do you typically charge for a kiddo? I currently charge $15 per day, flat rate and am open 7p-5:30p. I have been told this is really low. I also only charge when kids actually attend. A few of my families are GREAT about this and pay for all 5 days regardless (even if I was closed because of sickness!). Others have become a pain because they'll tell me they are coming 3 days but only come 1, bounce checks etc. Has anyone increased rates? I am opn 7p-5:30p.

I have been charging $25 per day for a long time . In January I changed my daily rate to $30
for part timers .- Flag

I charge more than $15 for a half day and that doesn't include lunch.
I also charge MORE for part timers so those attending 3 or less days per week pay more per day than full timers.
I don't know what the going rate is around your area but I would call your local Child Care Resource and Referral office and see if they can't help you out.- Flag

I don't charge a daily rate..I charge ft & pt. ft is 4 or 5 days for 120 and pt is 2 or 3 days for 100. If a family is enrolled w/ me and is on vacation or plans fall thru for a day they're not normally here, they pay $50 a day.- Flag

I charge 21 full day and 16 for a half day(about average for here). When they enroll they pay for a 'slot' so if they choose not to come every day they still pay for that 'slot'.
Yeh, do yourself a huge favor and ask your childcare agency. You need to look out for YOU. People become a pain when they think they can get the 'upper hand' by complaining or manipulating to get their way. Like the old saying give an inch, take a mile. Or something like that.- Flag

I charge 30 a day with a minimum of 2 days a week - that is what I consider p/t. (full time is 5 days 140/week). I don't do half days, they pay the same whether they come for 2 hours or 10 a day. They also prepay by the Friday before the next week so they pay whether they attend or not.- Flag

I'm in a high cost of living area, so I couldn't stay in business if I only charged $15/day and charged on attendance vs a spot. Aberage around here is $35-$60/day.- Flag

I charge $90 a week full time which is 4-5 days. 3 days or less is $25. If it is less then 4hrs the charge is $12.50. The only time I run into the $25 charge or the $12.50 charge is for drop ins. Right now I am full and also very picky about who my drop ins are.- Flag

I charge $45/day for FT care, $50-60/day for PT. This is SO individual to your area, there really is no basic pricing. I know one person who pays $15/day and she lives a few hours away and it's her neighbor who does daycare and foster care and stays home anyway so she's not trying to make a living off that and basically doing her a huge favor. BUT unfortunately she's never going to be able to go somewhere else and pay 2-3x that rate!- Flag
