    Contact family again?

I have a family that needs immediate care. I interviewed them on Monday, 3/31, that evening they emailed saying they wanted the spot and would drop off the deposit and enrollment documents in the next couple days. After not having received deposit and docs I emailed on Thursday, 4/3 and asked if they still planned to start on 4/9 and if so when would the forms be dropped off. Mom emailed back that work had been crazy but they would definitely be dropping off in the mailbox on Friday, 4/4. It's now Monday and no deposit or forms. They're supposed to start on Wednesday.

Would you contact them again? I told them I need to know for sure if they are starting on Wednesday to make arrangements with my assistant to help out that day. Mom said in the email, yes they will definitely be starting Wednesday. I still am not sure and don't want to pay my assistant to work an extra day if I won't have more income coming in.

    Ugh, how annoying!

Given that mom replied and confirmed Wednesday as the start date and then still did not drop off paperwork, I would absolutely contact them again.

    Dear DCF

Just wanted to touch base and let you know that I did not receive paperwork on Friday, 4/4. Please be aware that this paperwork MUST be on file BEFORE services can begin.

I will be available until 5 PM today if you would like to drop off the paperwork. If I do not hear from you or receive the paperwork by the end of the day, I will assume that you no longer want the space.

    Thank you

I added my addition in caps, I would throw something in there about moving on the next inquiry so they feel some sort of "oh we better hurry" kinda thing. If they think this spot is just here for the taking they may just come with papers on Tues night and apologize. If they think they may lose the spot it's gonna put some pep in their step. It's a marketing technique I learned. LOL Like how on QVC or any TV sales they have "Only 89 left!" And the number keeps dropping like oh I better hurry up and buy one!! Or the old "Call within the next 7 minutes to get our extra bonus set for free!" But play the commercial every 20 mins. LOL it's just a way to get people to feel like they have to have something now before someone else gets it first or they run out.

Thanks ladies! I called DCM and inquired about the paperwork. She apologized for not dropping off on Friday but was worried to leave everything in the mailbox bc it was raining. She will be dropping off everything today.

          Glad to hear it.

Of course, the cynic in me automatically thinks to warn you about her behavior.... if she couldn't/didn't follow through now with dropping off paperwork, be careful about her not necessarily following through with other things....maybe be proactive and be ready with a consequence that you will have to enforce if you want her to always follow through with things...

A quick phone call, text, or email letting you know her plans for dropping off the paperwork changed would have been nice. I guess I'm just turning into a jaded cynic after the crazy things going on around here lately

I agree that this may be a red flag. To be honest, that doesn't matter much as this family is only temporary and are filling my very hard to fill Wednesday/Friday spots. Especially since they are temporary, I will not bend at all on any of the policies. I will enforce late fees and consequences from the very beginning.
