How Should I Charge This Drop In?

I have a new 20mo. old drop in, they want a full time spot when it's available in August. So he is just taking days as they come available (when other children are absent). But my others pay for absences per our contracts, so I'm wondering whether it's ethical to also charge dcb for his drop in days. I'm essentially being double paid.

Yes yes yes ,it is ethical .You are providing care to that child regardless of wether you have been paid for the spot. Take the money and do something special for yourself.Dinner out ,nails done or something. If you didn't take the baby you would have one less child and still be paid.Sometimes I think we are so hard on ourselves.Nan

:confused::confused: One client paying for days they're absent doesn't mean you can't charge someone else for that day! If someone else wants to fill in that day than so be it! What money you get from others for that day is no one's business but your own! Would you really give someone a whole day for free because someone else is paying for the spot anyway? That's the whole benefit of charging for the spot and not based on attendance.

Charge them whatever your normal "drop-in" rate is (should be a little more than your normal rate) and collected that day. If she is willing to wait til Aug and take whatever days open up, be proud!! You're worth it!!

Yes, I agree with others. Charge your normal drop in rate.

If he is only attending days that are available each week he would be considered a drop in kid. The only parents I would charge absent/holiday days to are families currently enrolled.

It doesn't sound like this child is technically enrolled yet so I would not charge then for absent and/or holiday days yet.

If you do like Twin Kristie said...your drop in rate should be more than your daily/weekly rate regular clients pay to make up for the fact that drop in clients don't pay for absent days.

dawwwww.... Shucks. Lol. I sold my center business to work from home, so I've had a lot of loyalty from previous center clients. She's not one of them, but word gets around.
