I hate how parents are so concerned for one blanket and stained onesie, threatening to sue and then never come to pickup items. BTDT it is nothing new......very annoying but it is something that parents think they invented that we all have seen a thousand times before.
This is me today. The DCM left behind junk and now all of a sudden it's vitally important that she get the items back. It's ridiculous.

I would send a letter certified or not stating that they have 30 days from date of letter to pick up said items or they shall be donated to a local charity and you are no longer responsible from that point on. You could say they will be in a plastic bag on your porch if you wish or she could send you a prepaid USPS box.
      I see little people.

I like the COD option if you can do it. Here we can't send anything COD

I put in my polices that when their contract terms they have 30 days to pick up their stuff. After that I throw it out.

I would just mail it back with tracking and be done with this family.

I guess I am in the minority but I don't waste my time mailing them their stuff. I would contact them that if their belongings are not picked up by a certain date that they would be donated to charity. Then they get bagged and tossed in one of those bins in store parking lots.

I'm with Crazy Eight. I had a family stop coming and the deal was if they stopped by with their 2 weeks fees in lieu of notice (I now get that up front as a deposit) I would have all her things for her. I spoke with her several times setting a time when she would be over, she never came. So I stopped communication and she never came and payed and I still had her stuff. She left a pack n' play, blanket, sleep toy, a whole spare set of clothes, diapers, wipes and a jacket. After 6 months I sold some of it a yard sale. I kept what I could use for daycare.
A little different scenario since she owed me money, but I would give this lady once last chance to come get her stuff by a certain date or it will be donated.
