    Wisconsin law?

Anyone familiar with legally ran day care with out license? From what I read it only says no more than 4 children under age of 7 does that mean I can have 5 over age of 7? Confused by the wording... I don't have any after school kids this year.. And just watch an 8 month old right now

Three under the age of 7, unrelated to you (directly) is ok, 4 means you need a license.

If ALL the children are over age 7, you can have a whole hoard without a license. You can't take state-assisted kiddos or join the food program, though.

You also have to be careful about mixing ages. If you have 2 of your own under 7, take your sister's 2 kids, and take 3 unrelated more, then add a half-dozen school agers, you may very well be "legal", but you will get eventually get visited by licensing, because someone will report you thinking "oh, she has all those kids without a license). Especially if you have school-agers that are loud or otherwise annoy the neighbors. ::

Also, consider your legal/financial liability. Your homeowners policy probably wont cover anything unless you get a rider, and most companies will only give you a rider for up to 6 kids, any age. Over that or licensed, and you'll need to buy a separate policy ($550 per year or so). If something happens to a kid and you're not covered, it could be bad! Also, with school-agers, there is more risk with getting hurt or breaking things; they aren't quite as much in your control as those little guys.

You're welcome to PM me if you have more questions.
