Birthday Gift Ideas?

Dcb is turning 1 next week and I need some gift ideas

He is very dear to me and was my first client. They live in a small apartment and have more then their fill of toys and clothes.

I thought about tickets to the zoo or playhouse but infants are free so it seems strange...

So something not terribly expensive, that's cool, and doesn't take up too much room. Go.

I always give my kids books. Either one they love here, or something chosen specifically for their interests.

I like the picture idea! Other idea is personalized book with his name in it, you order them online. I like the ABC one but only quickly glanced through them.

Books. It's always books here. I buy nice hardcover books, usually classics or books that are sure to BE classics. I go out of my way to find really interesting and different ones, too. No "Dr Seuss" (which I hate with a passion actually) or characters or other "typical" books. Different stuff.

I don't know think zoo tickets are strange if you buy adult passes so the parents can take him. When my son was little we took him to the zoo all the time and he loved it. In fact the more I think about it, I think that would be great gift to encourage family time.
