How would you deal with this?

So last week, DCG comes saying her belly hurts. DCM says she threw up a little bit, but it was only from coughing so hard and DCM thought she is being dramatic. There was no fever and this DCF has never lied to me so I took her word for it. Well, 2 hours later, DCG pukes all over my couch and carpet. Call DCM and she picks up and keeps them ( I also care for DCB) home for the rest of the day and following day.

A few days later, my daughter gets sick. The weekend passes and I ask her if her other child got sick because my daughter did. She said "No"

Tuesday night my son gets sick and starts puking and then a few hours later I get sick - and I mean the worst sick I have ever been in my lifetime. It was terrible!!!

She texts me Wednesday morning that DCD will be dropping off early because she also got sick. I told her not to bring them as I was still sick. She then mentions that DCB threw up on Sunday but she didnt think anything of it - that he was teething and shoving his hand in his mouth so she thought he may have gagged from that.

I don't normally expect payment when I "call out" sick, but I feel like this could have been prevented, and I am a bit peeved that she didn't tell me about the puking when I came right out and asked about it.

    What would you do? TYIA!

Though I can't know for sure. DCM was probably being honest with you to what she thought. She wasn't hiding it, and told you the details. He threw up a little bit, she thought it was from coughing.
I have been this mom! I thought my daughter was just 'playing' not feeling well, and was going about getting ready for the day... then she threw up. I'm glad it was before we went out as we were going to be going to a birthday party, and would have exposed some very young children.

I exclude for symptoms so whatever Dr. Mom thought would t have mattered. Child 1 wouldn't have been allowed in care. Exclude next time no matter how logical the reason sounds.

The mom had told the OP that they other child WASN'T sick- she didn't mention him getting sick until the following week after the provider got sick- could have been an honest mistake, but I'd definitely tell DCM that she should have mentioned him throwing up when asked if he got sick- whether or not she thought it was from gagging, or from an illness (especially since the other child was already sick)

Dcg came in even after throwing up at home initially and then threw up at daycAre. That infected them.

I agree. I have a little boy who will shove his hands in his mouth which causes him to throw up. I wouldn't expect mom to keep him home because of that. It sounds like she is being honest. She didn't think either was sick.
Oh, I also have thrown up from coughing/ swallowing my own spit wrong. I wasn't sick with anything.

If someone is coughing hard enough to throw up, they ARE sick.

              They should NOT attend daycare.

I think this time you are just going to have to eat the cost. Please think about adding to your policies sick/personal days off with pay.

I have it in my PHB that I get 3 personal days each year paid in full which I can use at my convenience. I just used one of them to attend a funeral or for dr appts or if I get sick. I have assistants to cover me on any other day should I need to attend the doctors.

This is not in addition to my paid vacation, which is one week.

Maybe we need more details... I coughing because you have a cold/constant cough is one thing.. Then yes you are sick and need to stay home.. I was thinking more of coughing because you sallowed wrong.. Then you wouldn't be sick at all..
Maybe I'm thinking like this because I tend to do it often and have thrown up from it before??

I agree… the bug made it thru your house after DCG got it. Only thing you may have been able to do to avoid it was not accept her that morning before she puked. Stomach bugs often take a day or two for each person to get it, so you can not say it is because she didn't tell you DCB threw up on Sunday when it was obvious the bug was in her house and yours prior to that with the girl.
And unfortunately we are going to catch things from the kids, I couldn't see having a policy where I charge for my days IF I catch it from their kids. That's too blurry a line. Add a few sick/personal days to your contract!
