    Late fee wording

My policy for late pick ups is $5 per each fifteen minutes .

That means if you pick up at 5:05 it is an additional $5.
if you pick up at 5:16 it is an additional $10.

Does my wording confuse anyone ? If so what is a better wording ?

I took it to mean $5 for EACH 15 minutes, so 5:15 would be $5 and 5:30 would be $10.

Maybe "$5 for any part of a 15 minute segment" Or something that indicates any part of the 15 minutes

Maybe give the example right in your wording "5:01-5:15 is $5, 5:16-5:30 is $10, etc" This would clear up confusion

"Late fees for late pick ups are $5 per 15 minute increments or any portion thereof."

My late fee used to say $15 per 15 minute increments, and billing begins at the first minute of each increment.

However, I started feeling like parents were like "welp, I'm already late and will be charged so I'll wait until my extra 15 minutes is up" and have started charging by the minute, now.

Do you get any problems for the $1 per minute ? I don't think anyone around here would go for it.

I think I liked NannyD's late policy best

I charge $10 just for being late plus $1 a minute until the Child is picked up. I've only had one parent pick up late and she made arrangements so it wouldn't happen again. If they don't don't like then they shouldn't have signed the contract and shouldn't be late.

This is what I have in mine. I also have per child. So, if they are 5 min late and have 2 children, that's $10.

Exactly! I discourage being late via my late fees.

I also do $5 for each 15 minute increment, but there is a center here that charges $3 per minute late and says that they will call CPS to pick up your kids if you are more than 20 minutes late I don't know if CPS would actually respond to that, but I know that it deters parents from being late!

I had a dcm "forget" to pick up one day a few years ago. (Ok, she didn't forget...she went home and fell asleep )...anyways, after trying unsuccessfully to call her and ALL her contacts I called my licensor and asked what I was suppose to do?

I figured if I lived at my daycare, I could just keep her but I don't live here and I don't have permission to transport anyone so I was stuck at my daycare just waiting.

Well, when I got ahold of my licensor she told me I HAD to call CPS. I told her I would wait a bit longer as this was really out of character for the DCM and it was only 45 minutes after my closing time.

My licensor said legally I couldn't. She said my legal posted hours were 7-5 and that my license does not allow me to keep kids outside of those hours.

She said I HAD to call CPS since I was technically not allowed to have the child after hours and that my insurance probably wouldn't cover me either if something happened.
