Too many teachers when there should be only one...ME!

How do you deal with kids that try to boss the others around? I have two boys (3y, 4.5y) that continually tell kids/me what to do. "Be Quiet", "Go play with toys", etc. A little DCG said hi to one of the boys today when he got here and he tells her "Go play toys". They will also talk back to me. If I say "Please be quiet", the one boy will say "No, you be quiet!"

I have been telling them "That is not your job to tell _____ what to do, you worry about playing and having fun". or I will say "Please worry about yourself, that is not your job".

It's been 1.5 week - maybe I'm not waiting long enough to see a change?
Neither of those are working. I have thought about telling them if they want to be the teacher they will have to sit at the table and watch the others play to make sure everyone is nice, teachers don't play with toys. Not sure if that would make it worse or they would get bored and decide being a kid is better.

Any suggestions are welcome.

My kids do the same thing! One dck does it even when another child isn't doing anything wrong or breaking a rule. I'm no help! Just wanted to let you know, you aren't the only one.

I have 2 dck's who like to boss the others around. Actually, one 2.5 yo dcb whp enforces my rules... He will tell the kids they can't do something and will tell them the rule...it was funny at first, but now I have to remind him that I will talk to the other children when I see then doing something. I gave him the nickname of Sheriff K.. I told his mom and she actually went out and bought a book about being bossy!

My other boss is a 3 yo dcg. She loves to tell everyone what to do and it really gets to me. I have to remind her that only Ms. M can tell the other kids what to do.

Usually after I say something, the 3 yo will listen, but then later be back at being the boss so I have to go through the whole you are not their boss and may not tell them what to do, only Ms. M can do that.

It's never ending. I think that it's just their age, they have selective memories.. They can remember something I told them before nap, like we'll go outside after nap or something like that, but can't remember something 10 min after I tell them..

Selective memories is right!! They can all recite "let it go" from Frozen without music BUT can't remember I just asked them to get their shoes on....LOL

I try other methods first. If they fail then I resort to my BFF time out every single incident and it stops it.
