What's The Word I'm Looking For?

When a child is acting like he cannot do something that you know darn well he can do...acting like he doesn't understand what you're talking about but he does...what is the word?
Junior is trying to put on his pants by shoving his feet into the ankles, as I'm explaining his feet need to go in at the waist. He has put on pants before. He knows how. In my mind I'm thinking "you're just being obtuse", but I looked it up and that's not the right word.
If there is no word for this, I'm going to make one up.

Pretending stupidity? There has got to be a word! It's a family trait! If I end up making up a word, I'll use their family name ::

I have a family that straight faced told me their kid has 'genetic laziness'.

Stubborn? Willful? Defiant? A stinker? A scorch? obnoxious?

In England we would have called that "Playing dumb (ignorant)"

                        Feigning ignorance?
