Tenderhearts - I had to have my woodstove inspected by a State Certified Inspector. Our town building permit people just came out and looked at it. but if you are having one installed i'm sure you have to have them come out anyways - so should be a non issue.

Ok so I thought I'd let you know that we fired up the woodstove yesterday and oh my it is HOT out here, definetly not use to the heat that's coming from it. We have central air and it's that "cool" warm air that leaves that chill on your bones where man this woodstove takes it all the way through.
So now we just need to figure out how to distribute the heat to the rest of the house. ::

we put small fans up near the ceiling sort of pointing down (because heat rises) outside of the living room and our bedroom to push the air through the house. works pretty well.

Are they special fans for the ceiling? We have our ceiling fans on and another fan but on the ground blowing, it's helping but still hot out here and only 68 69 in the other part of the house. It hasn't really fluxuated so that's good, just wish it was a little warmer out there. thanks for the tip

the one outside the living room is a small metal fan my hubby found and he welded a bracket to it and then screwed it to the wall. (he's so handy, thats why i keep him) the other one outside our bedroom is actually for campers, and it has a clip on the end, so we clipped it right to the door jam. you could probably find them at a store that sells camping stuff. i'll have to ask the hubby where he got them when he gets home.

            ok hubby just came home...

the metal one actually came out of an old bathroom exhaust fan. he never throws anything away... the one with the clip he got at an auto parts store, but it is 12 volt, so he rewired it and put a converter on it and a plug so we could plug it in the outlet.

            hopes this helps!!!!

we bought a through the wall fan - a nice one from home depot that was relatively inexpensive and it sits in our stairwell and blows the heat up the stairs. we have a vent installed above and below it to make more room for the hot air to come up. Then we have a vent in our floor of our living room in 2 spots to allow the heat to rise. Our wood stove is in the basement and we have a one floor home. We had all windows open upstairs today it was so warm in the house LOL
