    Patience on Empty

What is wrong with me, besides this cold I can guarantee I caught from one of the snot mines I take care of?

I have all the patience in the world when it comes to the kids. However with the parents I find myself envisioning my foot helping them out my door. I also have a habit of talking to the children when they start talking to me. When I hear and witness some of the parents others deal with I know I am so blessed. Still other than them picking up, dropping off and paying me I don’t want to hear their ******** reasoning, questions or excuses.

Did I mention I wiped waterfalls of snot ALL DAY today?

I'm the same way. My family picks on me for making a "constipated owl" face when they start saying something I really disagree with.

I'm telling you, they should make a bank teller style set up for daycares. I would put one in tomorrow if I could.

My patience is limitless with children....because they're CHILDREN. Adults? Not so much actually.

Hope you feel better. I, too am wiping snot all day. One kid used me as a tissue. Teething, colds, allergies, dry air, temperature, humidity, wind chill, new clothes, I've heard it all this week.

I am glad I am not alone. I actually scrunched up my face, closed one eye and say, “What?!” to a parent today. Then when they repeated themselves, I rolled my eyes and said, “See you tomorrow morning Johnny Doe, bye bye!"

Constipated owl!! A parent actually SAID that to you??

I don't have too many issues with the parents I have now but I had 1-2 that used to make me make faces by their stupidity.

I think it was her family, but that would be funny if a dcp did-sort of::!

Ditto here. Some you just want to usher immediately out the door without words exchanged. And the snot-is EVERYWHERE. Blech.

It is so nice to see others feeling this way this week! I came on here to vent, as I love love love my days and I love my DC kids, but the parents...blech...

I was brainstorming how to make things better (raise my rates, contracted hours, new policies, something!), but then I realized it would all be for naught. My beef is that I want these parents to spend more non-working time with their kids. I want them to WANT to spend that time with their kids. And when they are spending that time with their kids, to step up and be their PARENT, and not their FRIEND.

That just isn't going to happen with this generation of parents. I do have hopes that in another 5 years or so, it will all cycle back to what is now considered an old-school method of parenting, so I'm hanging in there. But for now, I accept that I cannot make a leopard change his spots.

Constipated owl! :::::: Can we get an emoticon for that??

I had one DCD ask the other day if I was in a hurry to get rid of everyone as close. Ummmm YES! We close at 5:30 and it was 5:35 and I had 3 families picking up!!!! I already had coats and shoes on the kids, but for some reason they thought right then was the perfect time to ask their kids how their day was! GO HOME!!!

I think I'm going to post a sign on the door at 5:30 that says, "If you are still here at 5:30 that is the same as picking up late and therefore there will be a $10 late fee on next week's tuition." Is that too harsh?
