Things that make you go Hmmmm?

    This facebook post:
OFFICIALLY have opens for the day care. We are located in ***********, and can be flexible with the priceing depending on the time schedules of the children. Can't take no more then 2 more babies because of our son unless you can give us packnplays and toys.

(not licensed, looked them both up) You can only take 2 under 2 even with a license. They live in a tiny apartment with 3 large dogs.

    and this one:

SAHM lookin to watch kids from ONE FAMILY ONLY in my home
    2-4 kids would be ok
Lookin to get paid $200 per week
Can be lower if you bring food or do EBT trade
I will NOT give tax forms

I think we should make a sticky for bad daycare ads.

There's a lady who advertises illegally around here and she puts in her ads that she has to buy food for the kids with her food stamps! Don't ask me why she feels the need to mention that.

Not necessarily bad but definitely made me go hmmm.

I am a certified full circle doula (pregnancy, birth, postpartum) and experienced nanny. My daughter also runs a small daycare from my home which is open 24 hours a day.

I am open to trading services or bartering. Just send me an email and let's see if we have a match.

        Some possible trades would be

        *new twin or queen mattresses/box

*massage (licensed or in school only professional please)

        *hardwood floors refinished (2 rooms)

        *photography

        *concrete steps for front porch

        *trash/debris haul away

        *electrical (light/fan installed)

        *airline miles

just ask, who knows =) we might have a match?

I'm not against bartering but not when it constitutes fraud!

That is ridiculous! 22 years and only not been paid once - 22 years ago!

Is it even legal for her to post their names like that? Wow, Ive had a couple people who owed me small amounts of money before and rather than deal with them, I just replaced them and took the loss, but this is extreme! Why would you even let it get that far?

and then I'm SURE she isn't claiming the income from childcare, and...that's fraud.

Ad #2 is also illegal. I think it's California ? that you can watch children from one unrelated family, regardless of # of children. Here it's 2, period.

                    at the list of names.

                    at the dollar amounts.

I was stiffed once, and never was able to recoup the losses. Rookie mistake.

Yup! I was only ever stiffed in the beginning because I felt like I needed them, but I learned quickly!

I'm so glad I found this forum before opening! I never even thought of getting prepaid before I saw that most people here do prepaid care.

I Have always wondered about the legality of posting names and such, but she has been posting this ongoing list for well over a year. She reposts it every few weeks.

Well it couldn't be considered slander because if those people really do owe her that much money then it is true so...

I don't know about legalities but I do know that if you write a bad check here or don't pay your account at a couple local convenience stores, the stores will post your name (and a copy of the check) on the counter so EVERYONE who shops there sees it.

It's happened for years so I don't know....

I think by posting such a long list of names, it actually makes the provider look STUPID. I mean, who let's that many people owe her money before getting smart and either requiring pre-payment or charging a deposit??

I've seen stores post pics & names of people who wrote bad checks. I haven't seen it in a LONG time but it has happened.

And yes, in CA you CAN watch 6 kids if they're all from one family. It's 1 additional family other than your own for license exempt care. But the EBT trade is illegal/fraud.
