    Me Instead of I

    One dcg, all day long.

    Me done.
    Me want more.
    Me have a turn.

New kid, been here almost a month. Almost 4!!! I correct it every single time, but at this age, it seems odd.

Me too! I had one not too long ago, I corrected often but he never caught on. Then I realized that's how mom talks to him "does dcb want to go to the park?" "can dcb put his shoes on?" "Did dcb have a fun day?"

I have one similar and when I offer up the correct phrasing I get something like this..."Please say can I do it, too?" He will reply, "Can you do it, too?" Lol!

I have one that says "I done with my food all".. I can NOT get her to switch he order.

Her and her siblings have been here almost a year. They get poor care at home, no speech encouragement, poor hygiene, poor supervision etc.

I guess I should just be happy she talks at all.

I have a little dcg who started with me in September. She will be 5 next week. She does the "me" thing too. She has other speech issues as well and has started getting speech therapy at pre-k and is improving all the time. She stutters sometimes as well which mom says runs in the family. But since starting school and therapy she is doing so well. I was so glad when the school suggested an eval and approved her for speech therapy. happyface

Her Mom DOES talk to her that way!

                NAME ready to go?

                NAME get your shoes!

NAME did you have a great day today?

I just think, that if those things are corrected sooner, they won't be so hard to fix, kwim?

Also, it's the only thing about this kiddo that annoys me in the slightest. Great kiddo, great eater, great napper, nice, polite, great self help skills. So Im going to STFU about this.

Dcg is having a full developmental eval for gross motor delays next month(which are so obvious I brought it up to dcm the first week). So if she needs speech, it will be in the works soon.

My son did this until he was 4. It was so cute when he started doing it and just as quickly became annoying but no matter how many times we corrected him he still said Me, I am pretty sure after a while he knew how to speak Correctly but is SO stubborn and continued to say Me. To this day he is the most stubborn child I know and I have been through plenty of children trust me.

My son always said his first name twice! So this is how it went: name, name wants his shoes. Took him to speech eval. at 3 years 2 months tested fine in everything was told he said his name because we did and said it twice or more because he was thinking what to say next. Glad when he outgrew that! Because racemom, racemom nearly went batty!

My head is about to split open. I have a sinus headache and now you made me laugh.

It use to send my mother into a tailspin when my nephew would say,” Granny may I have a piece of milk?”

LOL!!! I had one that mixed up eat and drink. Predominately said drink when she means food. Took me FOREVER to realize she was hungry and not thirsty.
