    Provider Four Week Notice?

    Hi!

I would be really appreciative on some help with paperwork.

I just opened couple months ago and finally got some families enrolled but I am not sure about one family they seems to be a little dramatic...

Do you have a paper that says that you (as a provider) are allow to give a four weeks notice of termination? If it necessary?

If you do, could you please share some ideas on how to write it?

    Thank you so much!

Are you asking what our policy reads or a 4 week term letter?

Do you have a contract? If you don't, get one. It really covers your butt in times like this.

If you do have a contract, what does it say about termination? Mine says something like:

A two week notice, in writing by either parent or provider is necessary to terminate this contract. During that time period, all payments and fees are due in accordance with this contract.

I require a one CALENDAR month notice in writing and I only accept it on Friday. If they give notice on Tuesday March 4th the notice begins Friday March 7th. They are required to pay all fees THROUGH April 7 th.

I also accrue holiday and vacation pay at 1.5 days per month. They are required to pay their slots portion of any unused holiday and vacation paid time off at the end of the notice. (this stops parents from leaving before your paid time off)

This kind of notice requires that the departure from day care be planned and handled with civility. The average parent will owe about eight hundred dollars total to fulfill the contract (depending on where I am in the cycle of paid time off) so leaving without notice would be very costly.
