Here is what I do. I charge $150 a week for 5 days so keep that in mind.
Part time: $32 a day with a 3 day minimum=$96
If you need an extra day: 4 days=$128
5 days=$160
OR you can choose to just pay $150 for the 5 days and use them or not. SO, if they are part time they pay $32 a day rather than $30 a day. They absolutely always pay for 3 days whether they use them or not though.

P.S. edited to add: This way they only use those extra days if they really need them. Especially 5 because it costs them $10 more per week OR they go full time if they see they will need 5 a lot. If they object, I tell them that it is like a convenience fee. It is much easier just to keep track of 5 days.- Flag

: This made me chuckle.
This is what I would do. I would have a frank discussion about how their rate is for 3 days. That you gave them a discount for their part time schedule, because you don't take part time. I would give them two options:
1. Keep their current rate and allow them three variable days, with the schedule given to you Friday by 5pm, NO OTHER DAYS AVAILABLE.
2. Go to the full time infant rate, and they can come 3-5 days, with the schedule submitted Friday by 5pm.- Flag

problem #1 was not nipping this the first time they showed up when they weren't expected and for more than 3 days in a week. That was a month ago and you've let it continue?? Apologize for the miscommunication for the past few weeks and have a frank discussion about their rate being for 3 days per week and give a deadline for schedule changes (the friday before care is pretty standard) Also, additional days should be more than $10/day regardless of what your full time rate is!! That is the "perk" of being part time, not paying the full time rate but if they require more days (with approval) then yes, their rate will occassionally be MORE than that of a full timer - their savings is in not paying it every week. If they want access to all 5 days then they need to pay the full time rate, period. And if you know the f/t rate in your area is more why are you not charging a similar rate?? If you don't have pride in your business no one else will either.- Flag

Yep, it was stupid. You'd think after 12 years I'd know better. I really did think they would keep her out the 2 days (only 1 day for DCD, only 1 day for Gma) for the most part. It's that last shred of hope that not all DCFs will dump their kids at daycare all the live long day/week!- Flag
