19 Mo Old DCB Has Disgusting Habit

I have had a 19 month old dcb since he was 4 mos old...for the last 6 mos or so he finds ways to get his poop out of his diaper during nap or while in the highchair during meals or snack. He'll hide behind the toy boxes and any space he can find to dig in his diaper. He has scratches all over his back, belly and legs from digging his way into his diaper. I am constantly scrubbing down his pnp and sending home dirty clothes. This morning during his rest time he did it again...all over face, body, and bed..I was In tears as my husband was coaching me through the process of gloving up and wiping him and everything down. I really want to be done with this family for this reason...they're weird and annoying but I've tolerated them so far. Am I over reacting or is this worth terming over?

I wouldn't term. A member here, nannyde, mentioned to put them in footed pajamas, but backwards. They can't diaper dig and they can't get the zipper down. I'll try to find the youtube video of her explaining how to get them on the kids backwards.

That just might work! I do 2 diapers and footy pjs over his regular clothea and he still manages to unzip and dig. Backwards would make it alot harder!

Our dd did that. It was mainly at naptime and nighttime. We used duct tape. We wrapped it around her diaper. It was snug but, not tight. She wasn't able to get her hand in there. It was a struggle getting it off sometimes. I was so sick of cleaning poop off walls. She enjoyed painting with it. Thankfully she has outgrown that awfulness!

I had one that was doing that, not hiding it, ugh... But I just made sure he always had a onsie underneath his clothes and after about a month, we stopped putting onsies on him and he hasn't dug for poop since! Yay!

I'm so sorry you are going through this, soooo gross!

This is exactly what I would do! I have a diaper digger right now. His parent know that as soon as he gets here, he is changed. Mine do not have feet, they are just full length and too tight at the bottom for him to get them up his leg and into his diaper. He can comfortably move around and play, they are not confining at all.

If you have a true Houdini (my youngest was) you can also remove the zipper pull. Use (and remove when not in use) a bobby pin as a pull. Once zipped up, the zipper will not come down without something in the hole where the zipper pull should be. Finally solved our youngest one's continuous nakedness.

Ive tried diaper on backwards, onesie snapped under his pants, onesie snapped over his pants, sleeper without clothes, sleeper with clothes...i am definitely trying sleeper over clothes backwards. This child has had pinworms, strep, and flu all within the last month. I canNoT risk him spreading his germs this way. I used to wash his clothes and blankets but now he gets a bare mattress with plastic covering and clothes get sent home in a grocery bag...mom looked at me like I had 2 heads when I handed her the bag of clothes for the first time. Since he had the pinworms I will no longer rinse clothes or mess with them at all. She is constantly asking me to give him a bath when I send her a txt letting her know hes done it again...and I always say "no can do!" First of all hes not bathing in my childrens bath tub, second of all I have 4 other toddlers here....

So glad I came here for advice! Tomorrow he's going straight into a backwards footy with no zipper pull! Thank you all!

Sounds like a case of pinworms to me...

If those backwards footie PJ's don't work (they probably will), I would definitely term. While you can't blame the child for the behavior, there is no way it would continue to happen at my home. Disgusting!

Right after the incident this morning I decided to start advertising to fill his spot. At first I thought I acted too soon bc I was so upset. I just dont know how much more I can take of this if it doesn't stop.
