    Feeling Uncertain

    Sorry this is so long!

So I closed my daycare last May (I was legally unlicensed) with the intention of going back to work. At that point I was so unhappy with and thought that going back to work outside the home was right for me and I wouldn't be as unhappy as I was anymore. I also had some pretty crappy daycare parents (one in particular that was just plain rude and disrespectful to me and my home) and I think that played a large part in my decision. I was tired of being stuck in my home all day long and being so exhausted by the end of the day that I couldn't enjoy my time with my 3 y.o. Once I closed I sold EVERYTHING, as I had absolutely no intentions of returning to this career.

After going through different jobs searching for the right fit, a job opening came about at the daycare center that my son attended in the infant room. This job offered 50% tuition and being done for the day by 1:00 every day. The only issue is that it's SO hard to go from doing this on your own and not having to consult with anyone else and having your own rules to working under someone else and trying to manage things with another person in the room.

After starting, I realized that it's been what I've been searching for for the last 6 months. I'm regretting closing my daycare and miss my kiddos terribly but obviously there's no going back. What I'm struggling with is the decision to start my own daycare again (licensed this time and in a different location other than my home) or do I continue to work at the center. Talking to my dh or mom helps, but they support me in whatever decision I make...so it's not always the best place to go for advice. HELP ME PLEASE :confused::confused:

If you read this all the way through, THANKS!

Could you write a pros and cons list?

Do you have any teaching skills? Like dancing, painting, etc. I ask because maybe your draw of being self employed and working with kids could be rewarding in another way besides daycare. Just a thought.

Have you checked into the financial aspects and licensing in order to begin daycare again? Perhaps that will help you decide if this is right for you.

Could you do group? That way you have some adult interaction?

Is half day prek in demand in your area? (I would love to do this, but it's not big here unless you offer aftercare or transport)

Could you do a Mom's day out program and begin with JUST a specific day (if you have/could get one off each week?)

How many kids would you need to match your current salary?

          There are so many variables.
