I also have signed consent from my clients. I have a private page also that only has current /previous clients and some of their family allowed on it. I post on there a lot more than I do my business page.
Anyone Want To Like My FB Page?

My facebook page is actually a facebook profile so that I have a better control on privacy. It makes the parents to feel better about me sharing pictures. But anyone can follow what I post as public so feel free to follow me: www.facebook.com/MamaDaniChildCare- Flag

It's b/c it's a profile not a "like" page. There should be a option to follow without friending. Followers get public posts on their newsfeed where as friends (parents) get everything. I set it up like that for privacy reasons.- Flag

I am not that familiar with FB but maybe you could just list the privacy/security options and which settings you put them on???
Thank you!Last edited by Blackcat31; 02-06-2014, 07:44 AM.- Flag

We've had several members ask in the past how or what to set their privacy settings too.... since you created a profile page verses a straight up business advertising page, would you mind sharing what your privacy settings are set to?

I liked them all. Maybe it's just the state I live in, but I got in trouble for posting pics of kids on facebook. I have a separate picture permission form that parents sign. There are 4 sections for each parent to sign and a section that says I do not have permission to take pics at all, if they so choose. ALL my parents absolutely love seeing the pics everyday! However, I had a set of dcb's here, they left on bad terms and mom went straight to the state and "tattled" on me saying I did not ask if I could take their pic nevermind post on fb. Of course I had her signed permission to back me up. This mom loved my fb page and commented daily about how much fun they were having, etc. Never once had an issue until they left. My daycare page has always been private, not a business page, but the tagging is apparently a huge issue because it exposes the kids to thousands of viewers with just one tag. I still have my page but parents are not allowed to tag or share. It's not an advertising page , simply for the parents to enjoy. Just sharing my horrible experience (it dragged on for 6 months!) to suggest that everyone makes sure to have signed permission from BOTH parents. General permission to take pics and also permission to post, cover your butts! It may seem harmless but child confidentiality is HUGE with the state. I'm not trying to be a downer, but dealing with the state is no fun! Everyone is your friend until they get upset
Now, of course, in a small group, people can tell which kid was at day care on a given day just based on sleeves or backs. I know that. But I don't have any separated parents or special circumstances that would make privacy a big issue. I'd be willing to reconsider things at that point.
Anyway, I got wordy, but your advice is sound. Even with permission, we need to be careful and cautious.- Flag
