Today we were playing Simon Says...well Simon (me) said to jump. I only had my dd and dcb who is 2 here and plenty of room. So we are jumping in place and dcb falls down. He cried for a few seconds and then went to get back up and fell back down. When he did get he was limping and not putting pressure on his right foot. I sat down with him took off his socks and saw that the top of his foot was red and warm. He kept saying his big toe hurt. I would touch it and all his toes, touch the top of his foot etc. and no complaints. He only cried when he tried to walk. Needless to say I began doing the RICE thing and called his mom. She is taking him to Dr. Of course this happens when we are in the middle of a snow storm and roads are crap!
Do I need to let licensing know about this? Not sure if I do or not. I haven't heard from mom yet..
My first thought was since it was already red and warm it may have been like that to begin with and the reason he fell in the first place. It isn't likely that his foot would have gotten red and warm within seconds. Maybe he bumped it at home the night before? Of course you can't prove that, just a thought. At any rate definitely report the incident.
You're welcome! Sorry that it happened, but it's obviously not your fault or anything you did. Poor bubs must have landed wrong. He'll heal up and be back to his normal self in no time. I would maybe make sure you CYA and prepare for a possible inspection, but you'll be fine

 I know how this feels even if you know it is not your fault. When I cared for my cousin's son, he fell and needed stitches above his eye. Not that I was glad he was hurt, but I was thankful it was a kinfolk. You never know what parents will do and it is scary. I am sure your dcb will be fine.
Stinks when they get hurt. Had one last week. Thankfully in my 5 years, there have not been many, but it doesn't make it any easier when they do happen. Here we have to report if it required a doctor visit. Even if it didn't, depending on the injury, I still let my licensor know so that if a week from now, something else happened, they know.

This was my thought too and I personally wouldn't report this injury for THIS factor alone. It didn't just happen at your daycare, it may have made it worse but it was already existing.
